When a Forge cohort member completes the programme, their reference is issued, given a unique ID, and listed here. Anyone can open a reference's page and confirm what was shipped, by whom, when, and who signed off. If a reference isn't in this register, it isn't real.
If you've been sent a PDF — find the reference ID on the letter (format BII-YYYY-NNN). Look for that ID in the register below. Click through to the public page. The page must word-for-word match the PDF.
If you've been given a URL — paste it into the address bar. It should resolve to builtinireland.ie/references/<slug>/. If it doesn't, or the page reads "Not Found", the reference isn't ours.
If you'd rather talk to a person — email kali@ravendesign.ie with the reference ID. You'll get a one-line confirm or deny within one business day.

Cohort 1 of The Forge is in progress. The first real references are expected from July 2026. Until then this register holds the sample reference and reserved IDs. See References explained for the format.
A reference you can't verify is gossip. Built In Ireland references are designed to be cheap, fast and reliable to check — that's what makes them useful to the recruiter and worth earning for the member.
The HTML of each reference page is committed to a public git repository at issue time. Any change is visible in the history. We can't quietly upgrade or downgrade a reference after the fact.
Every reference has a stable URL and a stable ID. The URL is indexed by Google so it shows up when a recruiter searches a member's name. The ID survives any future redesign.
The register is mirrored daily to a public GitHub repository. If builtinireland.ie ever goes dark, the references stay verifiable via the mirror.
Each reference names a real signer with a real email. Kali at Raven Design will pick up the phone or reply to the email. No "info@" inbox, no auto-responder.
